CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 

BEGINNING CLASS - BASIC MANNERS & OBEDIENCE/PUPPY KINDERGARTEN

click hereThis class is 7 sessions. Sessions one and two are combined into a 2 hour orientation (this includes ONE FREE HOUR of instruction). 

DOGS DO NOT ATTEND THE ORIENTATION.

PLEASE WEAR OR BRING SOCKS TO THE ORIENTATION.

The remaining 5 sessions are 1 hour each at the training facility.

This class includes EVERYTHING you need for the life of your dog and FREE lifetime follow-up phone consults.  See full details below.

  • Your dog will learn:
    • Calming techniques
    • Socialization
    • Wait – to prevent bolting from front doors, cars, yard, etc.
    • Sit to be petted – to eliminate jumping
    • Eliminate biting, chewing – all behaviors will be addressed
    • Walking nicely on a leash
    • Come when called
    • Sit-stay
    • Down-stay

This introductory class is for puppies and or adult dogs with no training background. It provides a means for puppy socialization/puppy training and training for all the dogs in a controlled, friendly, safe environment.

This is FAMILY DOG TRAINING and the whole family can attend classes.

Classes are taught by professional trainers. Doggy interruptions are managed appropriately and effectively so that you get the MOST out of your class time! You will receive focused individualized attention in every class.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS

DOGGY HIGH SCHOOL: For dogs who have completed the Basic Manners/Puppy Kindergarten Course
Duration: 4 Weeks, 1-hour Sessions

CURRICULUM CURRENTLY BEING REVISED.  CONTACT VICKY FOR DETAILS AT 303-730-6042.

  • Out of sight sit-stays and down-stays (owner can leave the room)
  • Down-stays that can last 20 minutes to 1 hour
  • Leave it (turn their head away or come away from something)
  • Targeting (ring bells to go outside)
  • Coming when called in open space (outdoors)
  • Walking without a leash
  • Stand-stay for grooming
  • Go to bed (send dog across the room to his bed and the dog stays as long as the owner wants)

OFF LEASH SKILLS & COME WHEN CALLED CLASS

**Please note: Intermediate Class is a required pre-requisite

6 Weeks, 1-hour Sessions

 

This class includes instruction about dog parks and coyote encounters and strengthens on-leash skills as well.

This 6 week class will give your dog the skills to walk, hike trails or jog ON or OFF leash.

We will also master the dog coming every time off-leash. Learn how to reward check-in’s, how to keep the dog close by, safety issues encountered off leash, dog etiquette on the trail, how to handle difficult situations. All of this will help you to enjoy & have fun with your dog in the Colorado outdoors without worry.

At the conclusion of this class, a field trip will be offered for a nominal fee. This places you in a real-life environment where you can implement your newly-learned skills while having your instructor available to help refine your techniques.

 

 

ADVANCED:

For dogs who have completed Basic Manners and Intermediate Courses

Duration: 6 Weeks 1-hour Sessions

Your dog will learn:

  • **NEW** Additional advanced/off-leash skills included!

  • Hand signals without voice commands

  • Move, don’t step over your dog

  • Heel in Place (get in heel position)

  • Off Leash Skills

  • Back (back away from you, doorways, etc.)

  • AKC Canine Good Citizenship will also be taught and tested. Your Canine Good Citizenship title will be given at this time if requested by owner

AGILITY CLASSES:

Dogs must have complete The Basic Manners and Intermediate Courses
Duration: 4 Weeks 1-hour Sessions

This is an entry-level agility class. We will learn all of the obstacles including tunnel, tire, dog walk, table jumps, etc. FUN, FUN, FUN!

 

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN® (CGC) TESTING:

A Wagging Success offers CGC testing as demand necessitates.

What is CGC?

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

All group classes are held at the Canine Rehabilitation and Conditioning Group (CRCG) located at 3760 S. Lipan St., Englewood, CO 80110 (Broadway and Hampden), (303) 762-SWIM or (303) 762-7946.

CGC testing location will be listed on this site as class dates are posted.

Classes are held Monday nights at 6:30pm; Tuesday nights at 7:00pm; Wednesday night at 6:30pm and Thursday night at 7:00pm. Please call A Wagging Success at (303) 730-6042 for the date of the next class you would like to join.
